The content builds on the Fall/Winter course but can be taken as a stand-alone course. As with all our classes the size of the class is kept small to allow students practice their skills and allow our teachers to provide feedback. Assessments will be sent to parents’ mid term and at course completion
Content is as follows:
- Students will continue to practice the skill of internalization of speeches. This will allow for a more natural delivery to speeches and presentations.
- Inspirational speaking will be deeply explored, and students will learn how to construct an inspirational speech that engages the audience.
- Final project will be for the students to deliver a 5–7-minute inspirational speech to an audience of community leaders.
- The use of visualization to help improve speech delivery and reduce anxiety associated with doing presentations.
- We will continue to explore storytelling and how to use it to make presentations more effective and engaging for an audience.
- Focus on skills that students will need to deliver school projects and assignments. Word choices, slide construction, how to deliver effective group presentations, etc.
- Each class will feature an “Off the Top” component that allows students to practice impromptu speaking skills. These sessions will improve conversational and interview skills.
